Admissions Requirements
To enroll in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program at East Bay CNA Academy, applicants must meet the following requirements in accordance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines and clinical site policies.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be at least 18 years of age by the start of the program
Possess a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
Be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Be physically capable of performing CNA duties, including lifting, standing, and assisting patients
Demonstrate professionalism and readiness to work in a healthcare setting
Health & Clearance Requirements
Prior to the start of clinical training, students must provide:
Negative TB test or chest X-ray clearance (per CDPH and facility policy)
Proof of required immunizations (as required by clinical sites)
Physical clearance from a healthcare provider (if required by clinical site)
COVID-19 vaccination or declination (as required by clinical facility policy at the time of training)
Background Check & Live Scan
Students must successfully complete a criminal background check / Live Scan as required by the State of California and clinical facilities.
A prior criminal record may affect eligibility for clinical placement and CNA certification.

Valid government-issued photo ID
Proof of education (high school diploma or GED)
Signed Enrollment Agreement
Signed Student Policies & Code of Conduct
Health and clearance documentation
Program Expectations
All students are expected to:
Maintain satisfactory attendance in both theory and clinical hours
Follow professional conduct standards at all times
Adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality laws
Comply with clinical site policies and instructor directions
Wear approved uniform/scrubs and identification during training
